With the advancement of the Internet and e-business, many professional database service providers have been developing rapidly. By developing various subject-focused databases, DSP could satisfy different services demand. In the academic periodical fields, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) is the leading database service provider in the domestic. Using the resource grid, knowledge grid, knowledge mining and knowledge discover technology,these database service providers compile various periodicals, meeting papers, newspaper, book, almanac, cyclopedias into specific literature database for customers'information searching. All of these developments have greatly simplified the process for searching and shortened the distance between the users and various knowledge resource, solved the discrepancy between the knowledge explosion, disordering knowledge information and the knowledge information searching demand. The evaluation analysis of the capability for earning and sustainability to the CNKI, as well as the improvement method study is meaningful not only in the theory study, but also instructive in enhancing the current business model and encouraging the development of the knowledge resource database industry.The intrinsic meaning of the e-commerce consists with the value creation. Based on the value creation, Combining with the e~3-value ontology and i~* molding tool, this paper has established the comprehensive evaluation framework for the business model of online periodical database. The simulation evacuation and sensitivity analysis to the business model of CNKI was conducted. The result reflected that the critical earning factors for the CNKI include the knowledge copyright, the amount of internet users and the knowledge digging as well as the extending of the value chain. Based on the method of business model deconstruction and reconstruction and the reality of CNKI, we have established the copyright-based business model for CNKI, business-extending model with the knowledge digging,value net reconstruction- based business model. Finally, the economic feasibility analysis of the updated business model has been conducted with quantity simulation analysis. As per the result, the updated business models for CNKI have the feasibility in some distance.
